That is, now only Type-C charging port will be available in all gadgets like laptops, smartphones, notepads etc. The government has taken a big decision today to reduce e-waste. Now whether one has a phone worth Rs 2 lakh or Rs 1500, both the smart phones will have Type C charging port. According to the Bureau of Indian Standards, due to the common charger, the number of charges per customer will decrease and people will not have to take new chargers for their devices again and again, as well as reduce e-waste.

BIS said this

The Bureau of Indian Standards said that this decision of the government will reduce e-waste and the environment will also be saved. Actually, it used to happen till now, different chargers were present in the market for all electronic devices and people had to buy different chargers. Due to this people’s money was also spent more and the waste also increased. The government also used to face problems in the maintenance of e-waste and many problems also arise due to this. Work was done to solve this issue around the world and it was decided that Type-C chargers should be kept as common chargers. From the beginning of the year 2024, only Type-C charging port will be seen in all electronic gadgets like laptops, cameras, smartphones, tablets, etc. The Type-C charging port will be released in phases so that industry and consumers can easily adopt it.

Do not do these things around the common charger

Even after standardizing the Type C charging port, you cannot connect the same charger to different devices. Meaning to say, if your smartphone’s charger is of 32W, then you cannot use this charger on a laptop because the laptop’s charger will be of a different watt. Similarly, if the charger of a person’s smartphone is of 240 watts, then you cannot use this charger on your smartphone because your smartphone cannot support such a big charger. This will damage your battery and it may get damaged. Always use the charger that came with the device.
